Profile overview
Professor Jayantilal N. Patel has over 36 years’ professional experience and his work has involved trans-disciplinary approach to water research and focussed on water resources management understanding farmers’ need in irrigation. In particular, this involved planning, modelling and optimising the water resources in urban as well as rural areas using computational and geospatial techniques for the benefits of end users.
The important areas of his current research are conjunctive use of surface water and ground water management for irrigation purpose, use of internet of things (IOT) for smart irrigation water scheduling and development of super absorbent polymer (SAP) material using local farm product for storage of water in root zone of crops for water stress period.
He has over 160 publications to his credit, including over 60 research articles in peer reviewed international journals and supervised 18 PhD scholars as well as 42 master level students in the area of water resources engineering.
He has acted as Principal Investigator of 05 research project, acting as an investigator at ongoing SPARC project (sponsored by Indian and Australian government agencies), completed 52 consultancy projects, authored / edited 07 books, delivered 72 expert lectures, organised 30 workshops /training courses, received 08 prizes / award sand rendered expert services at national as well as community level many times.
