Dr Piyush Tiwari is Professor of Property at University of Melbourne, Australia. Prior to his current position he was Director – Policy at Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), India, where he was involved in contributing to policies for private financing of urban infrastructure in close cooperation with national and state governments. He was also editor of India Infrastructure Report 2011 on Water prepared by 3I-Network. Earlier, he was Senior Lecturer (Property) and Program Leader, MSc (International Real Estate Markets) at the Business School, University of Aberdeen, UK. He has held positions at the largest mortgage company, HDFC, India and the University of Tsukuba, Japan. He has held visiting positions at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad (India) and Keio University, Tokyo (Japan). His research and consulting interests include housing economics and mortgages, land economics, post disaster reconstruction mechanisms, and financing infrastructure in developing countries. He has published numerous research papers on issues related to land, property and infrastructure economics. He has published six books titled ‘International Real Estate Economics’, 'Real Estate Finance in the New Economy', 'India's Reluctant Urbanisation: Thinking Beyond', 'The Towers of New Capital: Mega Townships in India', 'Development Paradigms for Urban Housing in BRICS Countries' and 'Delhi's Changing Built Environment'. He is Member, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Fellow, Applied Property Development Institute. He is also Member, International Land Measurement Standards Committee of International Land Measurement Standards Coalition. Earlier he served as Member, International Property Measurement Standards Committee of International Property Measurement Standards Coalition, His other professional activities include Director and Fellow, Asian Real Estate Society, Associate Editor, International Real Estate Review, Editorial Board, Property Management, Journal of Property Research, Land and Frontiers in Sustainable Cities.

My current research interests are post-disaster reconstruction mechanisms, land, property and infrastructure economics. Geographical focus of my research has been Australia, India, Japan and the UK. Topics that fall within these broad areas would be of interest to me for collaboration.
