Dr. Dharma Hagare, is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Dean International (South Asia) at Western Sydney University. He has over 20 years of academic and 5 years of industrial experience in the areas of water, waste and sustainability engineering. He is currently working in the areas of wastewater reuse and water balance for urban/ peri-urban areas, which involves development of water allocation models. He is currently leading the implementation of MARVI (http://www.marvi.org.in/) in southern states of India. In addition, he is working with private industries to recycle food and plastic waste into beneficial products. His research includes community consultation and management of community expectations. He has published over 160 refereed journal and conference papers, book chapters and technical reports. 13 PhD and 6 MPhil students have successfully completed their degrees under his supervision. He has secured over $2.3 million in research funding. His recent industry collaborators include Water NSW, Dairy Australia, several city councils and private organisations.
