Brigid Freeman is a Senior Researcher (Education) with the Australia India Institute in Australia. Her research is international and comparative, and primarily focuses on higher education policy, systems and governance.

Brigid is currently researching the implications of COVID-19 on higher education systems and institutions, and opportunities for increased Australia-India VET engagement. Brigid co-edited The Age of STEM: Educational Policy and Practice in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Across the World with Professors Simon Marginson (Oxford University) and Russell Tytler (Deakin University).

She has managed the Humanities in the Asia Region Project with the Australian Academy of the Humanities, completed policy consultancy for UNESCO, been a visiting scholar with the University of California, Berkeley, and advised a middle eastern university on university policy systems. She has a Master of Education Policy (International) and is completing a PhD exploring convergence and diversification in university policy governance.
