Profile overview
Currently, I am the Director of the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai. Before joining this position, I served as a professor in Population Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. I teach population studies and demography. I conduct and supervise reach in the areas of formal demography, family demography, political demography, population economics with focus on demographic changes and implications.

I am looking forward to collaborative partnerships in projects, faculty and student exchange programmes between leading Australian Universities and research institutes in Australia with the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai. Especially, being the Director of the Institute, I would be interested to develop formal memorandum of understanding with leading Population and Global health departments across the Australia. Our institute directly works under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Therefore, the partnership can provide innovative solutions which can help in improving the health and wellbeing of population. IIPS works as a nodal Institutions in health data and empirical research for the Ministry in India.
