Profile overview
Associate Professor Athique has been actively engaged with Indian colleagues in the fields of media, communication, sociology, anthropology, and management over the past 15 years. Adrian has sustained long-running projects on digital communication and the media economy in India, editing a book series for Oxford University Press (India) along with several monographs and edited volumes of collaborative research in the field. Adrian regularly convenes international research symposiums focused on media and communications in India, and has held four visiting fellowships in Indian universities, and taught courses in India's leading research institutions. Adrian has jointly supervised PhD students at the Mudra Institute of Communication and IIT Delhi. Associate Professor Athique has held grants for India-focused projects from India's SPARC scheme (2019-2021), Australian Department of foreign Affairs and Trade (2019-2020), the University Grants Commission of India (2014-2016), and the India New Zealand Education Council (2013-2014). Adrian is also leading the India tam for the Canadian SSHRC funded project on global Media and Internet Concentration (2021-2027). Adrian is currently based in the School of communication and Arts, University of Queensland.
