Overview

The Central Institute of Indian Languages is an Indian research and teaching institute based in Mysuru, part of the Language Bureau of the Ministry of Education. It was founded on 17 July 1969.

The Indian Institute of Languages provides advice and assistance to the Central and State Governments in matters of language. It contributes to the development of all Indian languages through content and corpus building, documents and protects minor, minority and tribal languages, and promotes linguistic harmony by teaching second-hand language learners in 15 Indian languages.
